About that little crack:

Mechanic says this is nothing to worry about, because he has inserted something else in there like a second pot?? So it is double?
Well technically I am left behind, so I just keep my fingers crossed, unless someone with better knowledge than me can help here

A question: I think I can read somewhere on the block (of the "new" engine) a number "87"
Is it possible that this could mean the engine year of manufacturing?
Wasn't M10 production stopped at about 1983 or 84?
Hopefully soon I will make a good picture showing this clearly

Here in Holland we had the M10 engine also in the E30 BMW until the beginning of 1987. I had one.
