You are possibly right. I also see, eventually, that a 3.64 would compensate the way this engine works

Generally no gaps between gear changes, as these are not diff dependent, but only gearbox dependent. So the C/R gearbox helps to keep revs in the "sweet spot", only speed (km/h) is different - and also, longer diff makes things a bit more quiet and a bit more "polite" and a bit less power feeling

I will drive the car for some more time and decide what to do finally.
But I have already started to incline towards the 3.64
Unfortunately, with the previous engine, it seems I was not able to judge. Conversion started with an lsd 3.64 for those who remember. However, that engine produced from start so much noise because of bad making - as I can see now with the new engine. Although power and torque were significantly less than current engine (even by just comparing specs one can tell this), the feeling with the 3.64 (and of course the difference over my factory 316 in which I was used to) was that I drive an M3.
Also, again unfortunately, that 3.64 was badly whining, so now if I want a new one I have to search for one again.

So, voila! Jeroen, my next plans! Here they are.
Anyone with a 320/6 speedo to start with?
At least someone who can tell me what should be written on a such speedo (the small numbers underneath) in order to recognize it?

Not only Alpina reps but other styles as well when you browse
Prices seem ok for NEW product
Not sure about their quality however, concerning looks they seem correct as far as I can see

Sharp pricing indeed! No experience though.

BTW it is likely EZ Powersteering can make your power steering speed dependent, please contact them through workshop@ezpowersteering.nl

They told me they sell top quality products. Of course this is their own words replying my simple question about their wheels quality, so I wouldn't expect a different answer.
However, they claim 3 years warranty, which is something

Concerning EZ:

Really???
Thank you !
Will contact them for sure

Emailed Ruud and he replied.
Now it's up to me to see this with my electrics technician. Free time is my enemy here I'm afraid...
Thanks Jeroen!

Apart from needing badly to do this road trip, there was an additional need to see how the car goes, after all the things been done and, having reached a point where I felt that it goes well, and problems have been sold so I was confident that it wouldn't leave me on the road.

Also some useful remarks were made, such as that I am (again) after a shorter diff finally (so Jeroen yes you were right.)
I feel that the car is going to gain from a 3.64 instead of the 3.45, without losing too much on the motorway (may be gaining there as well instead)

Finally, I followed Jeroen's advice to use cb (well, just simple walkie talkies but did the job very well) and they proved to be a gem indeed!
So I will definitely be using these from now on in similar occasions.

Very nice to see that you can finally use the car without any problems .. These kind of trips are what everyone should do from time to time .. pure enjoyment.

Love the looks of you e21 ..

3.64 will give you some extra push without compromising to much on the motorway .. 400 extra rpm at 120 in 5th gear.

Walkies work very well don 't they

Thank you both!
Indeed car seems to have no issues -apart from running a bit rich and rather thirsty, but that's my mechanic's decision- and, combined with very nice weather and beautiful scenery, the result was near perfect.
Gerrit323, the walkie talkies were a great add-on to the whole experience, yes.
Also, concerning diff ratio, I thing that it is going to be less than 400 rpm at 120 on 5th, however I will have a look again at gear ratio calculators to confirm.
In any case, some more driving up the motorway as well as up/down hills in mountain roads (aka a couple more road trips) will convince me for the replacement need, as I like the car as it is from a lot of aspects, although I believe I will finally like it more with a 3.64 (yes all this mean I haven't yet decided 100%)

At one time i changed the 3.45 for a 3.64 and it was 3100rpm/2700rpm in 5th at 120km/h

Later i changed from 3.64 to 3.45 again but combined with 5sp dogleg box and that was 3500rpm in 5th at 120km/h
