Rear wheelhousing

Post by Ekin_Su_Ocha »

Hi there,
I'm just working on my '75 316 and started with the body works.
The rear wheelhousing is almost OK...almost. The tower is rusty and I cannot save it. I tried to find the replacement part but I can't find on the entire internet.
I decided to create this part from sheetmetal.
Does anybody know the thickness of this part? (see link). I hope the tower itself can be reused...and I have 1mm thick sheetmetal for creating the rest of the wheelhousing.

Any hint, remark or useful feedback are welcome!
Thanks in advance!

The outer skin is normal 1mm sheet metal. But the dome itselve is a plate about 3 x 5 inch with the dome that holds the strut. That is substantially thicker. At least 2,5 or 3mm.
