hi mark, £350 does sound quite reasonable but a 3 year warranty does'nt, most companies that fit full stainless offer a lifetime guarantee so a £150 saving short term does sound good, long term maybe not..just my pennies worth good luck either way

I did ask them about it because they are using stainless so it 'should' last longer. They just said most of their clients are in motorsport and so it's usual for them to suffer some damage etc.lemonayd wrote:hi mark, £350 does sound quite reasonable but a 3 year warranty does'nt, most companies that fit full stainless offer a lifetime guarantee so a £150 saving short term does sound good, long term maybe not..just my pennies worth good luck either way

Right now I'm happy to be saving the extra £150 to be honest and 3 years with no worries will do for now.
I'll post pictures when it's done Jimmy.

Thanks, I'll make sure to keep a check on it Jason.
Spent an hour outside with the Autoglym this morning.

5 minutes after I had finished it started pissing down!

I did have a bit of good luck though. I searched through 'LOOT' and I bought a couple of pairs of speakers from some young 'girl racer' who'd removed them from her Saxo.
£30 posted and she said she'd throw in her 'old' stereo that was in the car when she bought it.
Result!

Blaupunkt London.
The speakers are only mid range stuff but they'll do for now. If I do my parcel shelf black the 6x9's should look quite good I reckon.

Nice speakers those jbl`s, but the 6X9`s are no way gonna fit mark, you will need a grinder and also brackets, if you do get brackets to fit the 6x9 you will need a good amp... if you need one i have a mate who is selling his one due to company car, its a boschmann 300 watt independant bass/treble and frequency controller which gives clarity away from stereo.... if you want to go the whole hog for quality low bass crips sound....
which is what i have and love it..

I might just sell the 6x9's to get some of my money back and buy some 6x4's for the front kick panel. I could just put the small round ones in the back maybe? If not I'll just have to cut out the holes in the parcel shelf with a nibbler or something like that?
I'm off down to Cornwall for the weekend. Claire's coming down to Salisbury on Thursday when I have the exhaust done and to keep her sweet we're gonna keep driving down and have a weekend away. I aim to be back for the Ace Cafe on Monday though.

I got the fitting bracket and correct cone air filter yesterday and I think I might have been over-fueling as it's now running better than ever with no hesitation or missing. All I need to do is make up a bracket to support the AFM properly.
I still need to adjust the CO but I shall wait till after the exhaust is done tomorrow.
Hopefully I can make a start on the stereo after the weekend.

Fitted the air filter ready for the exhaust tomorrow.

Made up a bracket to support the AFM although I had to go and get a new hose clip for the filter as the original snapped.

Fortunately I had one on an old filter. I think it looks a whole lot more tidy under the bonnet and sounds good too.
I'm hoping that the 40mm spacers I have coming tomorrow will make fitting the 6x9's in the parcel shelf a bit easier?
One thing I do need before the summer ends is some decent wet weather tyres. The Baur could be a handful in the wet but with a considerable hike in power and torque the 323 can be a bit of a beast. Any suggestions for a quality rain tyre??

Just had an e-mail from Janspeed and am taking my car there tomorrow for them to have a look and see what sort of system they could make for me. Luckily they are also in Salisbury just down the road from Maniflow. If they can do a better deal I will have to wait a week or 2 but they are also keen to see if they can build me a 6 branch too. Evidently they have had quite a few enquiries about e21 323i stuff so I might offer them the use of my car as a template.
I met Keith O'dor, who was one of Janspeed's founders, a few times before he was killed. He was a really nice guy and a damn fine racing driver.

Well I went to Janspeed yesterday and after getting my car up on their ramps they offered to build me a system. It's booked in to be done a week next Wednesday. I'll photograph it all being done and post details.
We carried on down here to Cornwall and chased an M3 across Bodmin Moor. The cars running a treat now.
