Re: Uwbuurman: 1978 323i polaris: Page 29: PAINT!!!!
I gathered some stuff to be new zincplated again. This time all the bits and pieces from the subframes and brakes and the insode of the doors.
Again, this car amazes me. Some stainless steel bolts an knots, cut to size. I collected the right ones at Groentje_me. Thanks Jan!
Also some bit from the handbrake that ar broken of worn. Those I've ordered new.

The one door I allready picked up. I've put in the noisereduction plate, as lagre as possible. Because the door is complete empty there is plenty of working spce. It's going to be one silent car!

Gert jan painted the last parts.

After that, the shell was up. Starting with sanding and wrapping.

The end result! I'm happy.

Re: Uwbuurman: 1978 323i polaris: Page 29: PAINT!!!!
now the car is painted, I went to collect it. Because the is lots of salt on the roads I used the trailer with tent.

It was 8 inches short. I solved that problem with tyraps.

I didn't go straight home with my beauty, but had a stop over at the Dinitrol anti rust center. They coated all the hollow spaces with ML and after that Dinitrol 1000, a kind of fluid that turns into wax.

After the proces the car leaks for a while.

The rear shockpots are completely filled. this will never rust!

When all done the 323i finaly got home!!

Side by side with her younger sister. In fact, this is the first time they are side by side with Polaris on the 323i! The first time I have Polaris and Malachit side by side in my garage.

I am very pleased with how it turned out. There are some spots that need to be redone. That always happens on a project like this. Gert jan will repair it.
