325i 1989 .water in rear footwells

hi there all..just got me hands on a e30 325,and having a problem with rear pasanger foot well.Any ideas where the waters getting in? sunroof? thanks in advance.matt

That is quite likely indeed. Is the outside seal still intact, no big opening letting loads of water in?

Since the carpet is quite thick at the front I'd remove it and check there as well (front footwells), might be just as wet but you haven't noticed yet. Plastic covers behind the doorcards may have been removed which will also let water in.

have the same problem with mine, though I dont have a sunroof. With the boot open today I noticed water dripping under the boot hinge. Not sure if its running down under the rear window seal and then along the parcel shelf, but the channels around the boot are pristine, no rust to be found. If I park with the back higher than the front (ie, downhill), I get water in my rear seat foot area, park with the front uphill and I get it in the boot where the tool kit/jack is.

will keep an eye on these areas aswell ..only had the e30 a couple of months so not done much yet.
