Porsche 911 930 Turbo

Post by TopCat »

Dear All
I know I am taking a risk with mentioning the old enemy beginning with P

but I have found a really lovely low mileage 1989 black on black 911 930 Turbo - the one with the G50 5 speed gearbox!
I see lots of ads in Octane for them at £40-£50k but is this froth I wonder?

See below as to the number left etc:
http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/combined/9 ... anufacture

From which you can see that they are not as rare as B6 Alpinas (nor genuine V8 Jeeps, nor Camaros)! I am sure that you guys will have had some experience knowledge of these............

I should add that I have only taken out a real one once - a proper racer in the wet at Brands in mid 90s belonging to my race partner - we used it to take out our sponsors on the day (and I didn't spin- something that is a serious no-no with sponsor's clients)

I'd call Barney at Classic Heroes. One thing about him is that he knows the market when it comes to cars like these. Given the model it is, the desirability and it's rarity though, I'd say you're not far off the mark. I guess the motive behind buying counts for a lot too. Some folk buy cars because of their values as opposed the the car itself. I think you're the latter as someone who uses cars for their intended purpose. :thumbsup

Hi

I know of a very clean car for sale in the mid 20's. let me know if you want the details. If I didn't have my 996 turbo, I would have bought it.

presumably this is an early 4 speed Turbo at that price?- I gather the last ones with 5 speed G50 gearboxes and shorter turbo exhausts go for more?

Yea it is the 4 speed one, however prices are not too varied tbh. I read in one of my magazines the earlier guys were more relaible though still bloody dangerous cars !
