320/6 1982 sleepy UK

Post by sleepy »

Hi All,

Been on here a wee while now but have never created a journal, i'm just getting my car ready for an MOT and had a few questions so thought i may as well get this journal started and hopefully you guys can help me with my questions :D

So the car is a 320/6 with weber, since getting the car in 2011 i have put a k&n filter on, removed the factory tow bar, removed factory chrome arches, changed the clutch master and slave cylinder, upgraded to spax adjustable suspension and most recently just replaced the front two calipers and brake pipes.

Some pics of when i first got it:

Took the car to the Moffat classic car rally in 2011:

tried to get a little action shot on way home

Picked up some 15 inch Mahles for it a while back, test fit before suspension upgrade:

So i'm just getting the car ready for an MOT so i can use it as my daily for a while again, i have been driving an e30 325 sport in white but i'm selling this to a friend.
I had to get some calipers and have also replaced the brake pipes and the only thing left is getting the drivers sidelight to work...at a guess i'm thinking its a broken wire somewhere but wanted to check with you guys if there were any other known problems that would cause this, is there a specific ground point that could be causing this?

Not MOT specific but how do you change the bulbs in the instrument cluster, i have a spare cluster and on inspection i cant see how you get into the bulbs without breaking the kind of see through covers above each bulb...is this possible?

Comments welcome and advice would be appreciated :thumbsup

Looks great, very jealous of the Mahles! Do you still have the towbar?

Today I fixed the broken hazard switch using the fix in the faq sections, thanks for that guys :-)

I have also tested if there is any power getting to the drivers side light using one of those tester things...there is no signal for some reason....as you may be able to tell I have very little knowledge on vehicles electronics or electronics in general and could do with some help with this. Can anyone help me identify what the problem is, is this likely to be a broken wire or grounding or relay issue....where should I be looking?

Any help would be very much appreciated

Hi Lakhan...welcome :-)

I have not long posted a thread to see what tuning options are available for the 320/6 but as I suspected there are not many options without spending a fair amount of money. I am thinking about the 2.5 swap as one is available to me just now and looks to be fairly straight forward as swaps go.

If you haven't got a weber and it's still on solex carb then that's one thing you could upgrade if you decide not to go for the 2.5

Where abouts are you from? I spotted a white 325 that looks like yours driving round my way couple of months back, wondered if you were local?

As for the side light think I'd just run fresh wires from the front.

Cluster lights, you mean for the E21 or the E30?
