Someone very dear to me had their M635 stolen a few months ago. Unfortunately the car was laid up for a few years pending some restoration and was uninsured. The thieves broke into his garage and trailered the car away while he was on holiday.
To cut a VERY long story short, the car was recovered last month. The engine, the gearbox, the diff, the interior, the wheels were all stolen. The car was found in a lay by on standard trx's. The police have done their forensics on it but nothing was found.
The car is now back and in my garage.....the build starts.
If you knew the guys personal circumstances, it really is a massive kick to someone who is already down.

Not too much left of the car then, car is back but I don't feel like cheering...

Ouch... that's terrible. Good luck with the rebuild.

For the past few nights, he comes over with the intention of making a start. We start to chat "sharknose", drink tea and call it a night.

Nothing wrong with BMW chats as long as you're not in a hurry to get the car finished

It's more than likely someone he knows.
