I've ordered the rear panel and all the original parts from BMW's network of spare parts suppliers in Romania and I had no problem, all the parts ware in top condition. From Waloth Nesch, I only ordered the repair kit for the carburetor because the original one was too expensive.

Thanks Dan. The problem was that mine is a type 1 323i, so two exhausts and separate fogligts. At BMWs I could get type 1 with 1 exhaust opening or type 2 both with one or two openings. But this was a NOS type 1 323i panel. That was the reason i ordered it at W&N. But I rather not buy of them

Today, Groentje_me got rid of another piece from his breaker. I’ve collected a part bootfloor and rearpanel. Just next from where the cornerpiece came from. With thi piece I can repair my bootfloor.

What I need is the bend piece with the flange and the part where it run back. Not simple to recreate from sheetmetal.

hahaha, well, I think it was in the sea. More salt....

This car was first delivered in the Netherlands, with it's sea climate and deicing salt during winter. The car has been used as a daily up until 1998. After that, the Brové company, self claimed BMW restorers, has restored the car. But they did such a bad job, that everything they touched has to be cut out and repaired in a decent way . If I knew then what I know now, I would never started this project . But by just starting and doing is, I will have a very rustfree and solid base fore an original Dutch BMW 323i, type 1.

By the time the car is finished the person doing the insurance appraisal will have to go over 500 pages of restoration fun on the forum first! Then decide on the value. Still it will never be enough to cover all the time and money I'm sure.

Money, no but time? Never ever! But that doesn't matter. Working on the car gives me a sense of freedom, some "me time". No work, no family, just me, with my car in my well equipped garage with heating, hot and cold water, toilet, radio... (hell, all I need is a bed and I'll stay there...)
